Tuesday, November 29, 2005 Looking For More Humor

I must admit, I'm not the funniest person around. I can draw it up, but sometimes, the humor can be lacking. So I decided to begin looking for another person with fresh ideas for the comic. I need a person willing to submit ideas on a weekly basis so that I may come up with a comic based on those ideas. It will be a partnership. While in no way does this comic generate any income yet, if it were to begin attracting income, the job would begin to offer pay. As of now though, it will be volunteer work. If you are interested in the job, email me for more details at:

Customer banned for pocketing pencil

METHUEN, Mass. (AP) - Home Depot Inc. has apologized to a carpenter who was banned by the chain worldwide after he absent-mindedly pocketed a store pencil he had used to do some quick math.
Michael Panorelli, 51, of Lawrence, Mass., was accused of shoplifting from the Methuen store last Thursday and banned by the chain.
Panorelli was with a client and had just bought some lumber when the client picked up the pencil sitting next to a cash register for Panorelli to use. Panorelli pocketed the pencil and was met in the parking lot by a worker who asked for identification.
The worker presented Panorelli with one letter saying he was banned from Home Depot, and another advising that he would be hearing from the company's lawyers.
Panorelli took his story to the Eagle-Tribune newspaper in Lawrence, which published it on the weekend.
On Sunday, Atlanta-based Home Depot issued a written apology, saying the incident was prompted by a narrow interpretation of its shoplifting-prevention rules.
"We will not be pursuing any claims against Mr. Panorelli for this incident," the statement said. "We welcome Mr. Panorelli back as a customer in our stores at any time."
But the carpenter said he had no intention of doing business there again.
"Why should I put money in someone's pocket when they treat me like this?" he said.

I'm pretty sure they offered him more than just a welcome back to our store. What company does this to a person??? Ban them for taking a pen/pencil?
"Sure we have a lot of employee theft in the back of the warehouse, but this, this pencil stealing, thats got to stop now!"

Mail Call Pvt. Honey!

Wow, I gotta say, I was impressed lastnight by two things. One, that there is a WW2 game thats so realistic and captures the chaos and craziness of war...which is called Call of Duty 2. Second, that my wife would like it as much as she did. We downloaded the demo online. She played it, then played again. Had to peel her from it when dinner was She likes a good game every now and then, and we play a game or two together sometimes, but for her to like a fast paced game like that was different.

Just one bit of advice though. If this was in a real war, stay clear of Often times she would find enemy grenades at her feet, in which case, she would freak out and run away, while throwing grenades in no general direction and looking up at the sky times landing her own grenades at friendly

Have Video Card, Will Travel!

Well, the good people over at Zuke Computers FINALLY refunded me my videocard. For those of you who don't know the ordeal, it has been about 2.5 months from the time I sent it in to be replaced, until now with them finally refunding me the money so I could go and buy my own. It was one week after the next of hearing over and over and over again: "Yes Mr. Holman, we spoke with the manufacturer and it should be in within a week." Then, 2 months go by and they decide to refund me the card's amount. Another 2 weeks later, I end up having to call them again, and they finally do it over the phone via my credit card because they haven't sent the refund check! They obviously have problems in getting the job done. They can build great computers for a great price, but don't ever think about using their warrenty.

The card replacement in a BFG brand. Never tried them before, but read good reviews and lifetime warrenty! Gotta like that!

Jack Sparrow the Pirate Lost for Good?

I'm sure a videogame was behind this terrible act, and you can rest easy tonight, because I'm sure Jack Thompson will be looking in on this case, and will undoubtedly find a videogame was to blame! Too much Duck Hunt will result in this crime being committed:

Sparrow knocks over 23,000 dominoes

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - The Dutch animal protection agency demanded prosecution Tuesday for the shooting of a sparrow that knocked over 23,000 dominoes during an attempt to set a world record.
The ill-fated bird flew into an exposition centre Monday in the northern city of Leeuwarden, where employees of TV company Endemol NV had worked for weeks setting up more than 4 million dominoes in an attempt to break the official Guinness World Record for falling dominoes.
The common house sparrow - of a species on the national endangered list-was chased into a corner and shot by an exterminator with an air rifle.
"Under Dutch law, you need a permit to kill this kind of bird, and a permit can only be granted when there's a danger to public health or a crop. That was not the case," said agency spokesman Niels Dorland.
"I might add: Is it really necessary to kill a bird that knocked over a few dominoes for a game?" he asked.
Dorland said the agency plans to submit the case to national prosecutors.
The Endemol organizers, who are out to break their own record of 3,992,397 dominoes during a live television broadcast on Friday, defended the killing.
"That bird was flying around and knocking over a lot of dominoes. More than 100 people from 12 countries had worked for more than a month setting them up," said Endemol spokesman Jeroen van Waardenberg.
He said the company was considering some kind of memorial or mention for the dead bird during the television broadcast Friday.
Dorland, the animal protection group spokesman, scoffed.
"I think they were awfully fast to pull out a rifle. If a person started knocking over a few dominoes they wouldn't shoot him would they?"
Hans Peeters, director of the Netherlands Bird Protection agency, said the killing was uncalled for.
"They could have captured it or sedated it or something," he said.

Chronicles of Narnia!

So, with the movie almost here, I am so curious as to how Disney will pull this one off. While I love most Disney movies, my favorite being The Lion King, I really want them to pull out all the stops for this movie. Not only does the series of books have a great story, as well as a similar biblical focus, but the titles deserve all the best to make it a smash hit! The Lord of the Rings movies were simply awesome, and they went well out of their way to make that world so believable. And from the looks of it, Disney appears to be doing the same with the first Narnia story. Either way, it has to be better than the films that came out in Europe several years ago. Just thinking about those still make me cringe. ;p
If you have never seen those, open this link in a new window;location=Hereford
